Frank Lampard –No One Want To Face Chelsea – Champion League

Frank Lampard considered that Chelsea’s revived fighting spirit will have sent a message in Europe that Chelsea has become victorious under the guidance of temporary coach Guus Hiddink after their 2-2 draw against Juventus in Turin on Tuesday night.

Chelsea has reached into the Champions League Quarter Finals. Lampard claims that they are in the shape, which could boost them to the final for the 2nd consecutive year.
According to Frank Lampard, the way they are playing is great and no one will want to face them. Now, the situation is critical and they have to compete in upcoming games. No doubt, they have had spirit and quality in the team and did very well but now, Chelsea has to go all the way.

On the other hand, Juventus midfielder Tiago trusts that his ex- team-companions can go on to triumph the contest. Absence of Michael Essien was a great loss for Juventus team because he is a competitive player who has been absent due to his Knee injury.

Liverpool seeks boost from Man U, Real wins

MANCHESTER, England: Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez believes the four-goal demolitions of both Real Madrid and Manchester United over the past week prove that his side can win the Premier League title.

Having crushed Real 4-0 in midweek for a 5-0 aggregate victory in the Champions League and then hammered United 4-1 on Saturday, Liverpool players and coaches now believe they can end the club's 19-year wait for the league title.

"If we can beat (United and Madrid), we can beat anybody," Benitez said after Saturday's rout. "Realistically, we have to win all of our games now, but part of winning the war is winning football matches."

For much of the first half of the season, the Reds topped the standings. But poor results against meager opposition — despite executing league doubles over United and Chelsea — damaged their title chances.

The third-place Reds are still four points behind champion United, which has a game in hand. Chelsea is above Liverpool on goal difference after beating Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday. We have made mistakes and ended up dropping points," Benitez said. "It is something we need to learn for the rest of the season because we cannot make any more mistakes now."

Benitez hopes the rest of the Premier League paid close attention to how Liverpool exposed the vulnerabilities of a United side whose 11-match winning streak was brought to a dramatic halt at Old Trafford.

"We have shown the way," Benitez said. "United have been playing with so much confidence and at least people will now see that they can lose.

"The message is there for everyone: In attack they are fantastic and you can see the quality they have, but in defense they have some weaknesses and we tried to exploit them."

Liverpool succeeded in that when Fernando Torres profited from Serbia defender Nemanja Vidic's blunder and raced forward unchallenged to cancel out Cristiano Ronaldo's opener for United.

The Reds repeated the feat after Patrice Evra sent Steven Gerrard crashing to the ground after being unable to cope with the England midfielder's pace. From the penalty spot came the decisive second.

As ever, Benitez will be relying on Gerrard and Torres, who struggled with his right ankle as he did in the thrashing of Madrid on Tuesday that clinched a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Injuries have limited the duo to just nine starts together this season.

"They are important for us because when those two are on the pitch the rest of the team has more confidence," Benitez said. "We know they can score goals and change a game, so they make a massive difference to us."

Gerrard described the Spain star's contribution to the side as pure "magic."

"He's the best striker in the world. If we keep him fit from now until the end of the season it's going to be an exciting finish," Gerrard said. "It's been frustrating not having him out there and playing alongside him.

"We have a good understanding. If we'd had him fit for more games we would have been closer to United."

There was no hiding Gerrard's jubilation as he scored Liverpool's second at United, flamboyantly kissing a TV camera in front of the fans who have mercilessly taunted him over the years.

Not only was the penalty kick his first goal at United, but it ensured the club's five-year wait for a win at its fiercest league rival would end. Fabio Aurelio and Andrea Dossena completed the club's biggest win at Old Trafford since 1936 with late goals.

"I've lost here before and it has hurt badly and had an effect in the games afterwards," Gerrard said. "It's going to give us a big confidence lift."

Chelsea & Manchester City On Alert As Valencia May Sell David Villa

Chelsea & Manchester City On Alert As Valencia May Sell David Villa
The Premier League duo are being tipped as favourites to land the Spanish international striker should he leave the Mestalla...

Following the revelation that Spanish club Valencia may have to sell their top stars in the summer, Premier League pair Chelsea and Manchester City are being linked with a move for David Villa.

The 27-year-old striker, who is rated as one of the most clinical strikers in Europe, won the Golden Boot award at Euro 2008 after bagging four goals in the tournament.

Know as ‘El Guaje’ – ‘The Kid’ - the 5ft 9in forward has racked-up an impressive goal-scoring tally with former clubs Sporting Gijon (38 goals in 80 games) and Real Zaragoza (31 goals in 73 matches). In addition, his record with Spain is formidable - 25 goals in 42 caps.

The Tuilla-born forward is also second top-scorer in the Primera Division this season, finding the back of the net 19 times in 23 games, taking his tally for los Che to 78 goals in 119 games.

Although Valencia are thought to owe around €450 million (£400m) to the banks, it is claimed in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror that they may still demand a huge fee for David Villa.

With Manchester City reputedly prepared to spend around €112m (£100m) on Kaka in January and with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich eager to see the club continue to challenge for top-honours, the duo may well give in to Valencia's demands.

Wenger: Ronaldo attracts foul play

Cristiano Ronaldo's "arrogance" makes him a target for opposing defenders, according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Hitting out at the rise of rash challenges in the Barclays Premier League of late, Wenger used the example of the Manchester United winger as a player who does not always get enough protection.

"Sometimes I feel Manchester United get too much protection and sometimes they don't get enough and Ronaldo is a specific example of that," Wenger said. "Sometimes his arrogance is provocative - and his class as well."

He added: "But when a player is not protected it's not right. When there is a bad tackle you have to be punished and get sent off the pitch."

Ronaldo was in the wars again during United's 2-1 win over Newcastle at St James' Park on Wednesday night, clashing with Alan Smith on the pitch and then reportedly being involved in a tunnel bust-up with Steven Taylor.

Wenger has been concerned by a rise in reckless tackles this season.

Wigan's Lee Cattermole saw red on Wednesday night for a lunge at Scott Parker, while Everton confirmed on Thursday that Victor Anichebe will miss the rest of the season as a result of a Kevin Nolan tackle on January 22.

Wenger wants to see longer bans of up to 10 matches introduced for guilty players, claiming three matches is not enough when the victims can be sidelined for so long.

"They could create a special committee to analyse if three [games' suspension] is enough or not," he said. "I feel in some tackles 10 games is not enough."

Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of their big Champions League duel next week.

Inter travel to Old Trafford hoping to come away with a place in the quarter-finals of Europe's top club competition. 'Ibra' is likely to start in that game, as is Manchester United ace Ronaldo.

The big Sweden international has heaped high praise on the current FIFA Player of the Year, but he believes the Nerazzurri will prevail.

"Ronaldo is very strong and he is playing very well," Ibrahimovic told Sky Sport Italia.

"He won the Ballon d'Or and the World Player of the Year and he won three trophies with the team.

"I have to continue doing well and then I will win the Ballon d'Or, but the most important thing is to win with the team."

Inter have consistently failed in Europe in years gone by, but the hitman believes this could be their year.

"We have won the league in the last two or three years and it's about time that we won the Champions League," added the striker.

"Manchester United are strong, but so are Inter, and if you want to win the trophies then you have to win these games.

"If we stay compact and focused then I don't really see any difficulties.

"We have to play better and with more faith, making less mistakes."

Mourinho hits out at 'embarrassing' Chelsea as United run away with the title

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has launched a shock attack on his old club by insisting it is embarrassing that Manchester United are running away with the Barclays Premier League title.

The Blues and Liverpool are seven points off the leaders and the champions also have a game in hand over their rivals. Arsenal are even further off the pace.

Mourinho, whose Inter Milan side face United in Wednesday's crunch Champions League second leg at Old Trafford, is stunned at how easy it has been for Sir Alex Ferguson's men in the league.

And, in a trademark show of modesty, he went on to claim that it would be much different if he was still managing in England.

The Portuguese won the title in his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge but United have swept up since.

'Manchester United are the best team in England but you have to ask how good has the Premier League been since I left?,' Mourinho told the News of the World.

Easy: United pair Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez are on fire

'Manchester United have won it with ease since I have gone because no manager has put a team together that can rival them But my teams always rival Manchester United and Sir Alex knows that.

'They are a great team, but if I was at a top club in England I think the title race might have been a lot closer this year.

'Chelsea have had no stability, Arsenal are nowhere and Liverpool threatened but I don’t think anybody really thought they were ever going to win it.

'I would not allow a team of mine to be so far behind. It is embarrassing in early March. Manchester United has a great squad, but are their players really that much better than Chelsea or Liverpool’s.

'I don’t think so. So something else must be the problem and somebody has to take responsibility for that. I beat Manchester with Chelsea and Porto. Now I am ready to beat them with Inter.

'I feel confident that if I had been at one of the big four clubs I would be close or maybe even above Manchester United.'
